Arrows
Are arrow symbols important for the theory test and the practical driving test?
Yes, arrow symbols are important for both the theory test and the practical driving test. Arrows in a lane show which direction you should drive, and if there are no-passing lines, the arrows become mandatory and must be followed.
Arrows in a lane indicate the intended direction of travel. If there are no-passing lines between the lanes, the arrows become mandatory and you must drive in the direction they show. If the lane ends, this is indicated, and further driving is governed by the applicable traffic rules.
Example of arrows in a lane

In the picture you can see two lanes. The arrows show that if you drive in the left lane, you can either turn left or go straight ahead. If you drive in the right lane, you can only turn right. Whether this is the recommended behavior or mandatory cannot be determined from the picture, since the intersection is not shown.
Example 2 of arrows in a lane

In the picture you can see three lanes. The arrow in the middle lane points straight ahead. There are no-passing lines on both the left and right of the lane. This means the arrow is mandatory and must be followed. The same applies to the right-hand lane in the picture. Since there is a no-passing line/hatched area, you must follow the arrow and turn right.
