Is the rest area sign important for the theory test and driving test?
The rest area sign is not among the most central signs you need to know for the theory test or the driving test. It can come up as a question on the theory test, but it is not among the most common. During the driving test it is unlikely you will be tested on the sign directly, but it can be useful to know – especially on longer drives where you want to plan breaks.
What does the rest area sign mean?
The rest area sign warns that a rest area with tables, benches and a trash can has been set up near the road. When this sign is shown it means there is also a restroom adapted for wheelchair users.
When do you encounter the rest area sign?
You see the rest area sign as advance warning 1–2 km before the exit. It is used especially on:
- Motorways and expressways – advance warning before the exit to a rest area.
- Busy national roads – to give drivers the opportunity to take a break.
- Tourist routes and main roads – shows break and restroom options for travelers.
What happens if you miss the rest area sign?
You may miss a safe opportunity to take a break. Long driving without stops increases the risk of fatigue-related accidents. If you need a restroom, you may also miss the chance to use an accessible facility.
Why is the rest area sign important?
The rest area sign contributes to traffic safety by reminding drivers to take breaks. Good rest planning reduces the risk of inattention and increases safety for everyone in traffic.
