Is the lodging sign important for the theory test and driving test?
The lodging sign is not among the most central signs you need to know for the theory test or the driving test. It can come up as a question on the theory test, but it is not among the most common. During the driving test it is unlikely you will be tested on the sign directly, but it can be useful to know – especially if you are planning overnight stays on longer trips.

The lodging sign shows a stylized bed and means you can find an approved lodging place, such as a hotel, motel or similar, usually within about 10 km of the road you are driving on.

You can see the lodging sign along motorways, national and county roads, and tourist routes when there is a hotel, motel or mountain lodge in the area. The sign can appear on blue service signs or brown direction signs.

When you see the lodging sign, you can plan a stop and follow the exit toward the place. Adjust your speed and use turn signals in good time.

The lodging sign is valid until the first intersection or the indicated distance. In sparsely populated areas the sign may point to a longer distance.
