No-passing line

Are no-passing lines important for the theory test and the practical driving test?

Yes, no-passing lines are very important. They mark clear boundaries between lanes, and it is prohibited to drive on, across, or to the left of a yellow no-passing line.

A no-passing line marks the boundary between lanes and sets clear restrictions on driving. It is prohibited to drive on or across such a line, and in the case of a yellow no-passing line, not to the left of it either.

Example of a yellow no-passing line

No-passing line

In the picture you can see a clear yellow no-passing line on the left side of the lane. It is strictly prohibited to drive on, across, or to the left of this line.

Example of a white no-passing line

No-passing line

In this picture you can see a white no-passing line running between the lanes. Driving on or across this line is not allowed. If you fail to take an exit before reaching such a no-passing line, you must continue to the next exit. Remember that white no-passing lines are used where the lanes carry traffic in the same direction, so it is allowed to drive on the left side of the line. With yellow lines, however, it is not allowed to drive on the left side of the line.
