What do marker signs look like?
Marker signs are square and have yellow symbols on a black background, or black symbols on a white background. There are exceptions to this rule of thumb. Marker signs provide information about how the road continues or about obstacles on or near the roadway.
Tunnel marker (left)
The sign shows where the tunnel wall is in dark tunnels. It helps you see how the tunnel curves and where the walls are.

Is the tunnel marker important for the theory test and the driving test?
The tunnel marker is part of the curriculum, but it is not very important for the theory test or the driving test.
What is a tunnel marker?
The tunnel marker shows where the tunnel wall is, and which way the tunnel goes, when it is very dark or there is almost no light in the tunnel. The marker points down to the right. This means you must pass on the right side of the marker. That is why it is placed on the left side of the tunnel.
