What do information signs look like?

Information signs are square, with a blue background, white border and a white symbol with text. There are exceptions to this rule of thumb. Information signs provide information about special rules — including prohibitions and requirements that apply on a particular stretch of road or at a specific location.

The sign marks the start of a bus/HOV lane and indicates that the traffic rules for such lanes apply. A bus with up to 16 passenger seats in addition to the driver's seat may only use the bus lane when operating licensed passenger transport, or when carrying at least 7 passengers in addition to the driver. A taxi may only use the bus lane when fitted with a roof light. The sign applies until sign 510 "End of bus lane" or until the first junction. The sign is also canceled by a direction sign indicating another use of the lane.

In addition, the following vehicles may use the lane: electric cars, hydrogen-powered cars, two-wheeled motorcycles without a sidecar, two-wheeled mopeds, bicycles, and marked emergency vehicles. Local rules or supplementary signs may limit the use, for example a requirement of a passenger in an electric car during rush hour.
