Is the LPG fuel sign important for the theory test and driving test?
The LPG fuel sign is not among the most central signs you need to know for the theory test or the driving test. It can come up as a question, but rarely. Still, it is useful to know what it means, especially if you drive a vehicle that uses LPG or are planning long trips where LPG availability may be limited.
What is the LPG fuel sign?
The sign (symbol 610.2) marks a facility offering alternative fuel – in this case LPG. It is used only for stations that are open 24 hours (automated, with a night attendant, or staffed around the clock). Company names, logos or fuel brands must not appear on the sign.
When do you encounter the LPG fuel sign?
You can see the LPG fuel sign on:
- Motorways and expressways – advance warning at least 1 km before the exit to an LPG station located directly adjacent to the road.
- Other roads – if the station is not visible in time for a safe exit, or if there is an unusually long distance between LPG locations.
- Direction signage to a side road – if the station is up to 5 km from the road, and the distance can be indicated on the sign if it is more than 500 meters.
What happens if you miss the LPG fuel sign?
If you miss the sign, you risk running out of LPG in a place where the next refill option is far away. This can cause delays or force the trip to be interrupted, especially on long stretches with few alternative stations.
Why is the LPG fuel sign important?
The sign provides safety and predictability for LPG users. By following the sign you can plan refueling in time and avoid stress or problems caused by an empty tank. Even though it rarely is a main topic on tests, it is part of being able to read and understand service signs.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ) about the LPG fuel sign
