Questions and answers about practice driving
Where is the basic traffic course certificate?
You find the basic traffic course certificate when you log in at vegvesen.no. You also get it as a PDF in your digital mailbox or in Altinn.
How to find the certificate
Go to Hent bevis for trafikalt grunnkurs at Statens vegvesen and log in. Statens vegvesen calls it øvelseskjøringsbevis, the practice driving certificate.
The certificate comes when the driving school has reported the course and you have turned 16. The school must report it no later than four days after the course ends.
How to show the certificate
When you practise, bring the certificate and photo ID. If you are stopped at a check, log in and show the certificate on your phone.
A screenshot or a printout from the login at vegvesen.no does not count. You may print the PDF from your digital mailbox or Altinn and bring it along.
If the certificate is missing
If you cannot find it, ask the driving school to check that the course has been reported.
If you are missing the darkness course, the certificate only shows from 16 March to 31 October. The rest of the year you may not practise until the darkness course is done. Read more in the article on the darkness course.
Who needs the certificate?
If you are under 25, you must have taken the basic traffic course to practise. From the age of 25, photo ID is enough.
If you already hold a licence in another class, you show that instead. Everything you need to bring is in the rules for practice driving.
Keep a driving log in the app
The Teorimester app has a free driving log for your practice. Read more about practice driving with the app.
